Tammie Wittrock, LICSW
Does this vibe with you?
I’m constantly overthinking anything but forgetting everything.
I’m interested in discovering non-monogamy and I need help figuring out what I want.
I’m trying to make what feels like a bazillion (yes this is an actual word) decisions every day, while trying to keep everyone else’s needs in mind.
I am an overly emotional, unemotional clingy but distant private person who likes to overshare at any moment and I’m lonely but also, it's way too “peoplie” (yes it's a word) to go out today.
I’m trying to fight the good fight; I’ve dug myself out of dark places and know firsthand why compassion is so important. I’ve made it my passion to fight and protect others but lately I’m just so tired and I just can’t anymore.
If this resonates with you, you're not alone. This is where the music que’s and I come in (clears throat), Hi my name is Tammie and I’m a licensed clinical therapist, anime and Sci-Fi enthusiast, neurodivergent superhero and mom to an amazing daughter, cat and dog. I’m originally from Queens, NY (shout-out to all my out-of-state transplants and if you really get to know me you can ask what my gamer name is… wait you have time to game? You may or may not have noticed that I'm not a “typical therapist” which is great because I bet you're not a typical person either. That’s the beauty of being in a therapeutic relationship. You get to bring “all of you” to the table, even the parts that you’ve spent most of your life trying to hide away. Therapy doesn’t have to be restrictive or scary nor is it a place to rehash every traumatic event that you’ve ever experienced in detail. Don’t get me wrong, therapy is work but it’s work with a purpose and that purpose is “You”.
My Approach
“I believe that you have everything you need inside of you to be the best version of yourself.” With that being said I think of myself as a guide, confidant and at times a teacher. My approaches to therapy can vary depending on the needs of the individual. I often include somatic approaches, EMDR, and psychoeducation on the nervous system to teach clients how trauma can affect our bodies; because guess what? Not everything can be fixed by sheer willpower! I am also in the process of becoming DBT certified and am offering DBT individual and group therapy starting in October.
